Městské hornické muzeum

Dig into mining history at the Městské hornické muzeum, where the story of the trade comes to life. A floor animation designed for children adds playful fun to the visit, and some exhibitions were modernized in 2018 with interactive applications.

Among the displays, a model of a modern mine tunnel includes an underground loader machine, and a model of a medieval mine tunnel sits alongside finds from old mines.

• Historical miners’ lamps (kahany) of various types
• A torso of a 17th-century wooden mine cart
• Erratic boulders from the glacier period, including Nordic rocks found near Zlaté Hory
• A 19th-century farmhouse room (selská světnice) with old ploughs and butter churns

A model of the lookout tower on Biskupská kupa and a projection of the 1779 battle round out the displays, making it an engaging outing for curious minds.
