Description

The Christmas market opens on November 19 with all the associated festivities. At 6 p.m., Mayor Martina Förster-Teutenberg will cut into the Lüner gingerbread heart and distribute it to visitors of the Christmas market.

After this opening ceremony, the fun really begins. The Herrnhut stars shine, the craft huts offer sewn, baked, and handmade items from the local area, almonds are roasted, and their aroma mixes with the scents of the diverse food offerings.

Alongside these longtime favorites, the Christmas market in 2026 will once again be enriched by the parade of the Dortmund Light Market by the Lippe River. In addition to festively lit huts and a medieval atmosphere, it brings a colorful stage program.

The "Christmas Bazaar in the Hansesaal" (Sat., November 28 and Sun., November 29, 2026), "St. Nicholas arrives by ship" (Sat., December 5, 2025 from 5 p.m.), and the "Christmas Torch Swim in the Lippe" (Sat., December 12, 2025 from 5 p.m.) are other highlights. Every Wednesday is family day with special offers and activities.

The Cultural Office, together with City Ring Lünen e.V., Lünen merchants, and Christmas market vendors, warmly welcomes all visitors from near and far.
