Klausentreiben in Obermaiselstein

Starting at 6 p.m., the Klausen go from house to house, driving out the evil spirits.

Anyone still out on the street in the evening should expect a few swats from the rod.

Following an old tradition, young, unmarried men "jump" through the streets of Obermaiselstein, chasing away evil spirits. Dressed in thick animal furs, masked, wearing large horns of native animals and bells, they go from house to house. Naughty children should know a poem or song by heart to avoid swats from the rod of these fearsome characters.
