Description
West Berlin, 1980s: A young runaway from the provinces arrives at Zoologischer Garten station searching for her "fairy tale prince," a Berlin rock musician. On subway line 1, she encounters a vivid panorama of typical city dwellers and their fates: punks and dealers, people tired of life, alcoholics, squares, unemployed, widows, fare dodgers, teenagers, dreamers ... She falls for the underground charm of the colorful city.
41 roles: Antje Hohmuth, a puppet maker and costume designer from the Zwickau Puppet Theater – now retired – and Berlin textile artist Denise Sheila Puri created 41 characters and 41 costumes inspired by the 1980s. In the narrow-gauge subway cars of line 1, faithfully recreated by Kilian Kreuzinger, these lively 41 performers can meet, argue, get to know each other, fall in love ...
Three genuine West Berliners sing the musical numbers live and perform this play essentially in its original language.
