Description

The Altenstädter Museum takes you on a journey through the region’s history – from prehistory and early times, through the Middle Ages, all the way to the 21st century. 🏰 You’ll experience the community’s development through a variety of exhibits, including local glassmaking as a highlight, showcased through beautiful glass artworks.

The museum is housed in a historic building dating back at least to 1609, which once served as a school and sexton's house. This lets you feel the long tradition of education and community life up close.

Especially fascinating are the elements from the old parish church with epitaphs that bring the religious and architectural past to life. The museum also offers a special insight into cross-border cultural connections to Bohemia through its Czech-related content.

Just a stone’s throw away, the Goldene Gasse – Zlata stezka visually represents the historic land bridge of Charles IV, which connected Nuremberg, Prague, and Wroclaw – a captivating point of interest for anyone curious about old trade and travel routes.

The Altenstädter Museum is not only a place to see history but also a center for research, collections, and community experiences – perfect for families eager to discover and understand history.
