Description

The Bergbaumuseum takes you into the working world of miners and the geological history of the Bavarian uplands. You’ll find many exciting exhibits like extensive mining tools, instruments, maps, fossils, and minerals, along with detailed models and an authentic display of a shaft system.

Through numerous photos, diagrams, and films, you can experience the fascinating world of underground mining up close.

The mining history in Hausham goes back to the 16th century. Local coal mining started around 1860 and continued until 1966. A striking reminder of this era is the mining tower of the Klenzeschacht, built in 1936 – a historic landmark of the centuries-old mining age.

Currently, parts of the exhibition are housed in the new town hall, while other exhibits are in storage. A new museum is already planned – a visit offers many exciting insights into the mining world of the region.
