Description

Denkmalhof Gererhof in the upper Lammer Valley is around 400 years old and is a protected historic monument. It offers an authentic look at farm life as it was in the 17th century.

The centerpiece is the original Rauchkuchl from 1609, the central room where cooking, baking, smoking and washing were done. For special occasions, krapfen are still baked here today using original recipes.

There's plenty to discover for visitors aged 7 and up:

  • The permanent exhibition “Vom Flachs zum Leinen” shows the elaborate linen production, with all the tools up to the loom.
  • Traditional craftsmanship, such as in the farmer's workshop (Machlkammer), on roofs with Legeschindeln, and when building the Girschtenzaun fence.
  • Historic farmhouse furniture, a weaving room and old traditional costumes, some of which are valuable and well preserved.
  • The Kümpf collection by Annaberg artist Prof. Gottfried Kumpf explains the Kumpf, a water-filled holder for the mowers' whetstone.
