Dinosaurier-Park Münchehagen

Description
Millions of years ago, they were the undisputed rulers of our planet – the dinosaurs. Long extinct, they nevertheless left impressive traces of their existence. And quite literally, because in Germany's largest open-air dinosaur museum in Münchehagen, you can admire more than 300 of their footprints. These bear witness to the fact that about 140 million years ago, a herd of dinosaurs roamed the area at the edge of the Rehburg Hills.
The natural monument "Dinosaur Footprints"
It is unique in Europe. Long before these ancient giants became popular again, a special kind of museum was created around the dinosaur footprints. The 2.8-kilometer circular trail leads visitors through different eras of the Earth and illustrates the evolutionary history of these fascinating giant reptiles. The Seismosaurus was the largest dinosaur in the world, measuring 45 meters long and 9 meters high.
Over 400 life-size reconstructions of prehistoric giants
But it’s not just the dinosaurs themselves to marvel at—you can also watch researchers at work. Experience up close how original dinosaur skeletons are painstakingly assembled by hand, bringing these creatures “back to life.” For the little ones, the dinosaur museum offers many hands-on activities, such as digging up a 25-meter-long skeleton.
For the young visitors, the dinosaur museum offers plenty of interactive activities: uncover a 25-meter-long skeleton buried in the sand, find semi-precious stones or shark teeth in the treasure-hunt sandbox, almost like a real paleontologist – extract a dinosaur skeleton from a rock block (for a fee), Stone Age action
Stone Age adventure world – where you can learn all about the exciting and dangerous life in the Stone Age! Experience live how Stone Age people made fire, crafted weapons, and hunted! Another highlight of the park is the live preparation demonstration! In front of the visitors’ eyes, paleontologists uncover fossil bones of Plateosaurus and Europasaurus from ancient rock and carefully prepare Ice Age finds of mammoths and more.
In the "Giants of the Ice Age" exhibition, you can learn all about prehistoric ice mummies, their discovery, recovery, and preservation. Anyone curious about how a real mammoth bone feels is in exactly the right place here!
Many educational programs, hands-on activities, and guided tours are offered for all age groups.
The Dino Park has been awarded the "KinderFerienLand Niedersachsen" certificate, making it a particularly child- and family-friendly excursion destination.
There are public restrooms in front of the Dino Park that are accessible during opening hours.
