Description

The Donauquelle in Donaueschingen is a world-famous source of the Danube and a fascinating place for the whole family. Here, you can experience an impressive natural spectacle: the bubbling spring water that marks the beginning of one of Europe's longest rivers.

The spring is accompanied by the historic sculpture group "Mutter Baar" from 1896, which symbolically guides the river eastward. A special tradition invites you to toss coins over your shoulder into the spring basin – said not only to bring luck but also to ensure your return to this special place.

The area around the Donauquelle has been ecologically enhanced as part of one of the largest renaturation projects in Baden-Württemberg and has been transformed into a natural refuge for numerous animal species.

Especially recommended are the exciting guided tours directly at the spring. In 30 to 45 minutes, you learn much about the history and legends of the Donauquelle. A visit is worthwhile anytime! 🌿
