Description

Dům přírody Žďárských vrchů is a nature house presenting the Žďárské vrchy landscape as a “museum that isn’t a museum”. It is housed in a historic rural farmhouse from the second half of the 19th century, and visitors are invited to experience the landscape with all their senses.

The exhibition traces the landscape through time: from before humans arrived and the medieval colonization, through local industrial development and agricultural collectivization, with a glimpse of the future.

  • Peat bogs and wetlands where rivers begin, with waters flowing into two different seas
  • Krátká, a village conservation reserve that has kept its original character
  • Dářko and Radostínské rašeliniště, among the oldest nature reserves in the country
  • Educational programs for visitors, plus a virtual tour available online

The house won the Cena hejtmana kraje Vysočina and the public prize (Cena veřejnosti) in the 2020 Vysočina Region ‘Building of the Year’ competition.
