Description

The community of Langenwolschendorf in the Zeulenroda-Triebes region is now also known for its citizens and local officials who are actively committed to protecting endangered species in their village.

On an orchard meadow above the “Spatzennest” preschool grounds, the Fledermaus-Erlebnisgarten Langenwolschendorf was created. The main features of the garden include a walk-in bat cave, focusing on the animals’ winter habitat, an interactive area showcasing their summer habitats, prey animals, and a special climbing area for younger visitors. This is complemented by a small nature workshop with seating and technology for outdoor presentations, as well as a listening box that makes the bats’ ultrasonic sounds audible.

Tip: Every year on the last Friday in July, a bat night event with many interesting activities takes place. The event starts at 6:00 PM at the “Spatzennest” preschool.
