Fränkisches Freilandmuseum
Description
A visit to the Fränkisches Freilandmuseum is like a 700-year journey through Franconian everyday history. Over 120 historic buildings are waiting for you to explore: including farms, craftspeople's houses, mills, sheep farms, breweries, barns, stables, baking and drying sheds, an official's house, a schoolhouse, and a summer villa.
Special seasonal events such as 'The Sweet Secret of Fire Sparrows' bring local traditions and nature to life interactively – for example, you can visit a traditional Franconian farmhouse amid colorful autumn leaves.
Families can experience one of the oldest farmhouses in Central Europe here, from Höfstetten, which has just been restored with a new thatched roof using traditional craftsmanship.
The museum celebrates traditional customs with events like Advent in Franconian rooms. You can enjoy music, crafts, regional treats, readings, and special seasonal sweets like potato gingerbread – with or without chocolate 🍫.
