Description

The Gemäldegalerie Dachau showcases the works of the Dachau artists' colony, bringing to life the history of this fascinating artistic period in its permanent exhibition.

Special exhibitions feature contemporary art by members of the New Munich Artists' Cooperative and the Dachau Artists' Association, creating a creative dialogue with historical works and connecting past and present.

A highlight is the exhibition “Art Needs Air!”, which reveals the break of the SCHOLLE artist group from academic constraints through fresh colors. Here, painters like Leo Putz and Max Feldbauer appear, illuminating a formative phase of Bavarian Expressionism.

The family-friendly program “With Grandma and Grandpa to the Museum” invites multigenerational groups to discover the works together, listen to stories, and craft memories through playful creative activities.

Interactive elements and workshops related to the exhibitions inspire children and families to notice details in the artwork and encourage their own creativity 🎨.

Guided tours make it possible to experience exhibitions like “Art Needs Air!” together and discover art from fresh perspectives.
