The Geo Trail Kapfenstein takes you along an easy, approximately 2 km hiking path through the layers of the Kapfenstein volcano and reveals the fascinating story of a fire-breathing volcano.

At 11 stations, it clearly explains how the volcano was formed and how the landscape took shape – turning earth science into an exciting experience for you. Three special telescopes along the trail let you look into the past and visually follow natural history.

The route starts at the Winkler-Hermaden winery and passes charming spots like a church, the Heart of Jesus chapel, and Kapfenstein Castle. The volcanic area captivates with a beautiful mix of forest, volcanic remnants, and green meadows.
