Description
The Haus der Gmünder Zeitgeschichte presents the history of the large Gmünd refugee camp and portrays people of the 20th century – personal, human stories that are well suited to conversations within the family. 🕰️
The exhibition includes a memorial and documentation about more than 30.000 refugees and additionally offers audiovisual material from Filmarchiv Austria and ORF as well as excerpts from a Universum-History documentary that can also appeal to children and young people. There is a school project ‹Gmünd und České Velenice – Kinderjahre nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg›, a thematic walking route ‹Zeitge(h)schichten zweier Städte› for families who want to combine the exhibition and the walk, and the option to arrange camp tours and exhibition visits outside regular hours.
