Description

Heimat- und Schulmuseum Mömlingen offers a fascinating glimpse into life and learning in times gone by.

Visitors can explore a historic classroom with furniture and teaching materials from 1870 to 1950, giving an authentic experience of everyday school life in the past – especially exciting for school groups and younger visitors.

Museum-led educational tours allow you to sit in old school desks, examine the contents of schoolbags, and discover traditional teaching methods such as reading and writing in the old German script.

Additionally, a visit reveals the old teacher's apartment with kitchen and a preserved courtyard well, bringing the domestic life of past educators to life.

The museum also features exhibitions on local tailoring from the late 19th century through the 1960s, including sewing machines and irons. The attic displays agricultural tools, including an old farmer’s cart with a realistic cow figure to vividly illustrate historic farming.

Workshops demonstrating traditional village trades like shoemaking and blacksmithing highlight the craft traditions of former rural communities.

The exhibits range from prehistoric stone axes to local treasures such as urn fragments from World War II – presenting a diverse portrayal of regional history.

The museum is particularly popular with local school classes and supports sustainable learning of historical knowledge with educational materials.
