From the Franconian Jura to the Danube Plain

From Eichstätt with its picturesque old town, you head up to the Marienkapelle on the Frauenberg. From the chapel, a work by Gabriel de Gabrieli, you can enjoy a magnificent view. After the steep climb, the route runs relatively flat and shaded by large forests over to Bergen with its pilgrimage church of the Holy Cross and down into the Schutter valley. Over the wooded summit of Hainberg, you reach the Danube Plain near Rennertshofen.
