Description

Kölner Zoo, one of Germany's oldest zoos, offers an impressive variety of animal species and experiences. With over 10,000 animals living in naturalistic habitats, it invites you to an educational visit. The elephant park, open since 2004, covers 20,000 square meters and is home to Asian elephants. Here you can observe the animals living in a natural social group. The rainforest house simulates the tropical atmosphere of Southeast Asia and hosts a variety of exotic birds and reptiles. In the Hippodom, a recreated African river landscape, you can watch hippos and crocodiles up close. The aquarium, with its own entrance, displays the diversity of underwater life, from piranhas to coral reefs. The baboon rock and jungle house offer insights into the social behavior of different monkey species. Opened in 1860, the zoo combines historic architecture with modern facilities and attracts over a million visitors each year.
