Description

The Klosterruine Hude showcases the remains of what was once a significant Cistercian monastery with fascinating architecture: the former monastery church in North German brick Gothic style, the gate chapel now serving as the parish church, the abbot's house turned manor, a brewery now operating as an inn, and various utility buildings set within a picturesque landscape park designed in the style of an English garden.

Right next to the ruins, a museum tells the story of the monastery’s founding, heyday, and decline – a great place for families to bring history to life together.

Conveniently located within the typical North German landscape, at the transition from Geest to moor and marsh, families can also explore a charming natural environment here.
