Landesmuseum Bergbau - Standort Prettau mit Klimastollen

The Prettau mine reached its peak 600 years ago, when Prettau copper was in high demand far beyond the region. The tunnels, driven inch by inch with simple tools, are masterpieces of mining craftsmanship. As late as the 20th century, Prettau was Italy's third-largest copper supplier. Today a mine railway takes you into the heart of the mine and into the Klimastollen, where the air is so pure that people can breathe freely again.
