Description
Museum am Dom is located in the splendid rooms of the Neue Residenz in the heart of Passau's old town and showcases masterpieces from Romanesque to Baroque.
The museum impresses with a magnificent staircase featuring delicate Rococo stucco work by Johann Baptist Modler, as well as the former Prince-Bishop's Library, which delights with its historic furnishings, colorful frescoes, and valuable art treasures.
On the second floor, visitors can admire the impressive doors of the banquet halls and explore five splendidly decorated representative rooms with historic paintings, fine silk coverings, and increasingly magnificent Rococo stucco ceilings.
In the historic atmosphere of the staircase, library, and banquet hall, special exhibitions are held annually, bringing the diverse history of the Diocese of Passau to life through its art treasures.
