Museumsdorf Düppel
Description
Museumsdorf Düppel takes you back to the Middle Ages around the year 1200. Here, you can see houses faithfully reconstructed to show how people lived and worked back then.
Children and families can discover medieval farm animals like sheep, oxen, and pigs and learn about ancient breeds. Volunteers demonstrate traditional crafts such as blacksmithing and bronze casting, which you can try yourself.
The village gardens are full of medieval medicinal plants, fruits, and vegetables – so you’ll learn fascinating things about their use in earlier times. Textile skills like spinning, weaving, and sewing are demonstrated, including rare techniques such as sprang, nalbinding, and tablet weaving.
If you want, you can join in the living history experience: community groups work on crafts, textile production, home care, and farming to keep the village alive.
