Museumseisenbahn Ammerland-Saterland
Description
The Museumseisenbahn Ammerland-Saterland takes you on a nostalgic journey with trains styled from the 1960s – an experience for the whole family.
Travel comfortably by historic train on the route built in 1908 from Ocholt to Sedelsberg, passing through a dreamy landscape: past the old sailing village of Barßel, historic stations, three windmills, and over the distinctive beam balance bascule bridge from 1959 across the Elisabethfehn Canal.
A special highlight is the ride through the Saterland, a region with its own language and culture. Here you can take the historic field railway into restored peatland landscapes.
Also, the VT98 train starts in Ocholt, where an original 20th-century locomotive shed stands, once built for the small steam locomotive “Tekkel.”
