Description
Here, three large hoofed species can be observed together on one area: the wisent, the wild horse, and the aurochs. 🦬
The Exmoor ponies also live here. They originally come from England's Exmoor and are already mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. Every animal in the herd has a name, an international passport, and a known pedigree. 🐴
There is also more to discover:
- The wisent is the largest free-living land mammal in Europe, with bulls weighing about 530 to 920 kg.
- Exmoor ponies can be recognized by their large eyes, small ears, and a light area around the nostrils.
- Grazing helped the rare marsh gentian recover, and with many medicinal herbs, the meadow is like a natural pharmacy.
- The aurochs is being reintroduced through back-breeding, since the last original aurochs died out in Poland in 1627.
