Description

The Schleusenmeile in Brunsbüttel offers plenty of opportunities for the whole family to learn about the locks of the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal or to enjoy playing in the water or on the playground. A visit is worth it for young and old alike. Just a few meters from the real locks, there is a lock model where children can try out how the lock chamber mechanism works themselves.

But the playground offers much more: children can become little pirates on the pirate ship, complete with a steering wheel, ship's phone, and gangway. Numerous equipment invites climbing, balancing, and swinging. Parents and grandparents also get their share of fun on the playground: a hand crank, balance bike, and wobble beam let the "best agers" feel young again.

If you want even more information about the five lock chambers after testing the lock model, just join a lock tour or visit the lock information center.

If you like being in and around the water at the same time, the Ulitzhörn outdoor pool is the right place. Located where the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal meets the Elbe, the pool offers fun for the whole family. After swimming, you can relax in one of the beach chairs and watch the container ships and luxury liners. www.schleuseninfo.de
