Planetarium Köln
Description
Planetarium Köln is located in the Leonardo-da-Vinci-Gymnasium in Köln-Nippes. A Zeiss small planetarium ZKP-1, built in 1965, in the school’s basement offers groups of up to 30 people the chance to see the starry sky, the Milky Way, and planets as they appear to the naked eye on clear nights. Planetarium Köln also has an observatory built between 1960 and 1963. A large part of the facility – including the telescopes and domes – was constructed by former students in their free time.
The longtime head of the planetarium was Hermann Gundermann (1938–2022). His successor is Stefan Nowak.
