Description

The Rosegger-Geburtshaus Alpl offers you fascinating insights into rural life in the mid-19th century – with all its challenges and simple pleasures.

You can explore original farm buildings, including the large living room, the smoke kitchen, the Umadumstall, and the flax hut. These vividly show how hard life was in Rosegger’s time.

The farm consisted of living quarters and stables for many animals, bringing to life the scale of a typical Styrian farm of that era.

The farm’s historical roots go back to 1493 and are closely linked to the family of Peter Rosegger. Reconstructions like the flax hut and Umadumstall are based on original remains and Rosegger’s sketches, allowing you to experience the historic atmosphere in a very vivid way.

Nearby, the Rosegger-Museum Krieglach invites you to discover personal everyday items, letters, and documents that reveal interesting and humorous aspects of Peter Rosegger’s life and work.
