Description
The 35-kilometer tour starts in Uetersen and first takes you to the monastery park on the edge of town. Here, the beautiful grounds captivate with lovely flowers and a small stream. From the monastery, you follow the Pinnau River all the way to one of Germany’s oldest drawbridges. When the bridge swings open, boats are able to pass, and it’s hard to imagine that this was once done entirely by hand.
Haselau welcomes cyclists from a distance with its church tower. The route continues through the flat marshland past the village of Heist to Holm, where a stop at the Holmer Sandberge is a great idea. The Holmer Sandberge nature reserve is characterized by large areas of sand and heathland. On warm summer days, a dip in the Appener Lake offers a refreshing break. The route then passes through small villages and green meadows before returning to Uetersen. A visit to the Rosarium and a slice of cake at the Parkhotel Rosarium provide a perfect end to the tour.
