St. Nazarius Lorsch
Description
The baroque basilica St. Nazarius Lorsch is striking for its rich stucco decorations and visible building phases. Particularly impressive are the baroque hall church (1725–1726) and the stucco work by Johann Georg Stubenrauch ⛪.
You'll find plenty to discover: In the left aisle stands the Nazarius altar with relics accompanied by a statue of Nazarius and Celsus. The Stumpf-Orgel (1971) with 31 registers rests in the historic case from 1742 and provides musical moments 🎶. A ring of four historic bells complements the soundscape. Visible alterations from 1929–1930 turned the former single-space church into a three-aisled basilica; an early-added roof turret (1727–1728) gives a distinctive external mark. The church is listed as a protected church building.
