Stadtmuseum Memmingen
Description
The Stadtmuseum Memmingen invites you to discover history right in the historic baroque summer palace – the building itself is already an exhibit. The museum combines local history with exciting topics such as Jewish life, the Nazi era in Memmingen, the Baroque period, imperial city history, the Peasants’ War, women’s history, and civic participation.
It is a place of encounter, diversity, and involvement that encourages visitors from various backgrounds to reflect. Thus, the museum is a cultural beacon of the city, closely linking education, reflection, and community engagement.
Especially worthwhile are the special exhibitions like “Baroque, Bombasin, and Bonbons”, which highlight Baroque innovations in textiles and sweets, or the permanent exhibition “Baroque Ballet”. There, you dive into the magnificent world of Baroque Memmingen through art, history, and the famous Künersberger faience.
A special experience for families is the Ba Ba Rock audio family tour – an imaginative children’s tour telling exciting stories about Baroque architecture and hidden treasures of the old town. Additionally, the event day “Baroque Trade & Change” explores Memmingen’s rise as an important trading city during the Baroque period.
