Description

Steinerlebnisplatz am Markkleeberger See is an interactive boulder garden with various play elements, located at the Störmthaler Canal, not far from the canoe park lock and bascule bridge. As the final development stage, the experience points of the 14 km long geotrail along Markkleeberger and Störmthaler Lakes will be centrally connected here. Along the reconstructed Ice Age stream, there are numerous large and small ice-age deposits, interactive stone stations, and witnesses from the Tertiary period in the form of tertiary quartzites and fossilized wood.

The Steinerlebnisplatz covers about 2,000 square meters and features six playable experience stations. Starting with a two-meter-high climbing rock, along a stream swing and a climbing tree, children can get active in the center of the facility in a shaded fossil sandbox, uncovering geological history for themselves. Splashing and playing in the stream are expressly encouraged.

Various seating and resting areas invite you to linger.

Due to temperature, the stream is operational roughly from Easter until the end of the October school holidays.
