Veste Heldburg
Description
Perched on a 405 m high basalt cone, Veste Heldburg – the so-called Fränkische Leuchte – offers you a true castle atmosphere with sweeping panoramic views 🏰.
Since 2016 the castle has housed the Deutsche Burgenmuseum with family-friendly exhibitions on castle research, medieval building methods and developments up to the 17th–19th centuries – many exhibits offer you hands-on stations for schoolchildren.
Architectural highlights such as the Französischer Bau with its projecting bays, the round stair tower Großer Wendelstein, the Heidenbau used as an event space and the converted Pfeilerhalle in the former stables invite you to explore.
