Description

Visit the Villa Rustica Leutstetten in Leutstetten, Starnberg, and travel almost 2000 years back to the time of the Romans! Here you can discover the excavations and artifacts of a Roman estate from the year 133 AD in a modern glass pavilion.

The foundations of the Villa Rustica were impressively recreated with stone baskets (gabions) to give you a clear picture of its former size.

A special highlight is the almost complete Roman underfloor heating (hypocaust heating), rediscovered after 1800 years. Right next to it, a cistern holds interesting finds such as a Terra Sigillata bowl, two house keys 🗝️ and a writing tablet 📜.

The even older history of the site is also exciting: vessels from the Celtic La-Tène period, which are at least 200 years older than the Roman villa, indicate an earlier Celtic settlement.
