Wassererlebnisbereich in Hetlingen

Two idyllic ponds, connected by a small stream, invite you to discover the fascinating world of water. Along a circular path with 14 display panels, you can learn exciting facts – from water’s role as a habitat to sustainable ways to use it.

Here you can get hands-on: build small dams, turn the water wheel, and watch how water shows its power. On the wooden platform, you can net creatures or patiently observe small aquatic life. A special highlight: in spring, the frog chorus creates a unique atmosphere, and during the bats' breeding season, you can peek through a glass window to see their nursery without disturbing them.

The Wassererlebnisbereich in Hetlingen is located south of the azv Südholstein (Hetlingen Wastewater Treatment Plant). Follow Schulstraße to the hiking parking lot at the treatment plant – from there signs will guide you. Please note: dogs are not allowed.
