Wasserkraftmuseum Ziegenrück invites you to explore the fascinating world of hydropower! At the center is the exhibition Saalekaskade featuring a relief model and models of the five reservoirs of the upper Saale River.

A special highlight is the spectacular demonstrations in the high-voltage room, where you can experience up close how natural forces are transformed into energy.

The exhibition Craftsmanship & Hydropower explains traditional crafts with working models and offers exciting insights into rafting and fishing on the Saale. There are also exhibits on the town’s history, the geology of the upper Saale, and historic diving technology.

Outside, you can explore a collection of turbines, water wheels, and a walk-in turbine chamber. In the historic Fernmühle mill, you’ll learn how electricity has been generated from hydropower for over 100 years.
