Wasserschloss Oppenweiler
Description
Wasserschloss Oppenweiler lies picturesquely on the larger island of the castle pond and is reachable via a stone bridge – an ideal place to explore for you and your children. 🏰
The historic park design is by Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell (1778) and offers extensive castle garden and waterfront paths for walking – perfect for families with strollers or with mobility needs.
The building shows striking details such as a column-framed portal with a balcony and the Sturmfeder-Wappen, a central round window and a belvedere with a wrought-iron flag (1959) – plus the unusual octagonal footprint that makes children curious.
As a water castle from around 1575, fed by a side arm of the Rohrbach near the Murr, the site connects nature and history; in the garden a grave monument from 1804 commemorates Maria Charlotte Sturmfeder. 🌿
