Wildpark Mölln

Description
Whether fallow deer, eagle owl, wild boar, or perch, you can discover around 30 native animal species in our 22-hectare Wildpark. And discovering is meant quite literally here, because we do not see our animals as exhibits. Instead, you have to embark on a journey of discovery and will be all the more excited when you finally spot an animal. This way, every visit becomes an exciting exploration for young and old alike.
But you can observe animals with us not only in the enclosures or the cold-water aquarium. Walk with open eyes through one of Schleswig-Holstein’s most pristine vegetations and, for example, keep an eye out for wood ants, squirrels, or greenfinches. Listen at the Grundlosen Kolk – a moor lake – to the pond frogs or discover how the male moor frogs turn blue during mating season in spring.
If you come with your children, be sure to visit our two playgrounds. Your kids can have a great time there while you prepare the picnic you brought along or enjoy a small snack in our gastronomy area.
A park for everyone
It is important to us that all people – regardless of their income – can visit our Wildpark. Therefore, your visit is free of charge, but not without cost. You can surely imagine that maintaining a Wildpark is expensive. So if you enjoy your time here, please consider supporting us now and then with a donation or by becoming a member of our sponsorship association.
The Wildpark is open for you around the clock every day of the week. So you can enjoy our small but charming park anytime alone, with friends, or with family. Please note, however, that you cannot bring your dog into the park. Unfortunately, we have had very bad experiences with this. Of course, registered assistance dogs are exempt.
Natural animal husbandry and biodiversity
Our animals come from breeding programs in other parks or were raised as foundlings that can no longer be released into the wild. They are meant to feel comfortable with us. Therefore, our animals live in enclosures designed to be as natural and spacious as possible. However, there are still some older facilities which we are steadily modernizing to meet our standards in caring for the animals.
Don’t be surprised if you see a decaying tree trunk here and there in the Wildpark. Dead wood is a valuable habitat for many animals, plants, fungi, and lichens and is thus an important part of the forest. By intentionally leaving dead wood where it lies, we promote biodiversity. It is this diversity that we work with in our environmental education programs.
