The Jewish Museum Vienna traces back to the world's first Jewish museum, founded in 1895. It tells the story of Jewish life in Vienna from the Middle Ages to today – at two locations just a seven-minute walk apart.
- Museum Dorotheergasse (Palais Eskeles, Dorotheergasse 11): the permanent exhibition “Our City! Jewish Vienna – Then to Now”, changing exhibitions, café and shop. Sun–Fri 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
- Museum Judenplatz (Judenplatz 8): the excavated medieval synagogue and an exhibition on Vienna's first Jewish community; on the square outside, Rachel Whiteread's Shoah memorial. Sun–Thu 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Fri 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
