Family Kite Festival

When colorful kites dance above the dike, it's time again for the Family Kite Festival in Upleward! On October 17 and 18, the dry beach will transform into a colorful experience for the whole family.

The Drachenclub Nordhorn Kite Team brings large, imaginative, and vibrant kites that can be admired high in the sky and on the dike. In addition, visitors both young and old can enjoy a varied program filled with entertainment, music, and interactive activities.

The Lükko Lighthouse Children's House Greetsiel offers a colorful kids’ program sure to light up children's eyes: crafting includes window kite decorations, CD sound stick wind chimes, little leaf elves, and forest critters. At 3:00 p.m., Lükko pays a visit. There’s also a bouncy castle, popcorn, and the North Sea sausage wagon waiting for visitors. Wiebke Ballonia creates imaginative figures from balloons. On Saturday, LEUKIN offers a typing event and serves freshly baked waffles as a sweet treat. On Sunday, the "Parents' Association for Children with Cancer and their Families in East Frisia and Surroundings e. V." provides coffee and cake. Plus, both days feature a crêpes stand.

There's plenty happening on stage and in the event area too: On Saturday, Oliver Jüchems brings great vibes with his music. On Sunday, magician Tim Jantzen delights with his children’s magic show. On both days, Puppets in Minutes presents an entertaining puppet theater filled with music, magic for kids, and interactive elements.

Whether marveling at kites, getting hands-on, enjoying music, being amazed, or simply spending a relaxing family day by the North Sea – the Family Kite Festival has something for every generation.
