Göttingen Christmas Market

The Christmas season in the city begins no later than the opening of the Christmas Market in Göttingen. When the scents of roasted almonds, freshly baked bread, and mulled wine fill the streets, you can leisurely stroll through the Christmas Market during this reflective time and sample various culinary specialties.

The Christmas Market in our beautiful city welcomes visitors from November 24 to December 29! Let the festive atmosphere enchant you, wander through the stalls with crafts, gift ideas, and delicious treats, and enjoy the musical performances on the stage.

The market is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with extended hours until 9:30 p.m. on December 23. It is closed from December 25 to 26.

If you keep your eyes open, you might spot Santa Claus strolling through the Göttingen Christmas Market. Rumor has it that he is around Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. He also holds a kids’ session every day at 5 p.m. in his Christmas vehicle behind the old town hall on Zindelstraße.
