Description
The Krippenausstellung im Hotel Austria – Museum der Stadt Bad Ischl shows the Kalsskrippe and other regional nativity scenes. During Advent and the Christmas season you can discover handmade scenes from the Salzkammergut with your children. 🎄
The Kalsskrippe was created in 1838 by Franz Oberleitner as a vow for the birth of his son and has been shown each year since. The figures are movable and depict the birth of Christ as well as other Christmas moments – which often delights your children.
The figures wear Salzkammergut folk costume and show local work and crafts. The exhibition is complemented by box nativity scenes from local nativity makers; the region’s landscape-nativity tradition has been part of the UNESCO-Welterbes since 2015.
