Description

Dive into one of the region’s most beautiful traditions and be part of the 295th Leonhardiritt parade through Kirchweidach on Sunday, November 8, 2026.

Look forward to magnificently decorated horses, festively adorned carriages, and a unique atmosphere that brings tradition and community together in a special way. According to tradition, the Leonhardiritt was founded in 1714, during times of livestock disease, plague, and famine in Kirchweidach and the surrounding area. Every year, on the first Sunday after All Souls’ Day, the veneration of Saint Leonhard is kept alive with this impressive custom.

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with a lively market featuring sales and traditional costumes. At noon, a band concert and the solemn blessing for horse and rider mark the festive opening. From 1:30 p.m., the traditional parade featuring numerous horses and carriages sets off.

An impressive experience for the whole family.
