Meet & Greet with the largest land snails in the world at SEA LIFE Speyer

Starting in April, visitors can get up close to these gentle giants at SEA LIFE Speyer and learn fascinating facts about giant African land snails, the largest land snails in the world.

Gentle, impressively large, and uniquely fascinating: the giant African land snail is native to tropical regions of Africa. Measuring up to 20 centimeters long and known for their calm and leisurely nature, these special creatures captivate both kids and adults alike. At SEA LIFE Speyer, visitors now have the chance to meet these gentle giants up close during an exclusive Meet & Greet. During the approximately 20-minute add-on experience, entertainers share intriguing stories about the snails’ origin, lifestyle, and unique traits. Under the expert guidance of SEA LIFE staff, guests can even carefully hold a giant African land snail in their hand, creating a special connection with these extraordinary animals. “Many people are hesitant to touch snails, but giant African land snails are incredibly fascinating and gentle creatures,” explains Christine Leingang, General Manager of SEA LIFE Speyer. “With the Meet & Greet, we aim to break down fears, educate visitors, and highlight the risks these species face.”

A key part of the experience is also conservation: SEA LIFE Speyer shares information about its local efforts as well as the work of the SEA LIFE Trust, which supports global conservation projects. For every Meet & Greet ticket sold, 1 Euro is automatically donated to the SEA LIFE Trust.

This experience is suitable for children aged six and up and takes place in small, exclusive groups of up to ten people to ensure a calm and stress-free environment for both humans and animals. Participation is only possible in combination with a regular visit to SEA LIFE Speyer and can be booked online in advance or on site.
