Salzkammergut Krampuslauf

At the Salzkammergut Krampuslauf you see Krampusse, angels and other dramatic figures; the dense, mystical atmosphere and an intense soundscape draw visitors from abroad. 🎭

A special highlight is the Kinder-Krampusse-Umzug um 18:00, in which children march along the Marktstraße and are admired by the audience. Afterwards Nikolaus comes and hands out small gifts at the municipal office to the well-behaved children.

For hungry families there are food and drink stalls from 16:00 serving punch, mulled wine and warm snacks. Many groups display striking masks, horns and furs – each group is introduced by a female or male announcer, which makes the procession especially theatrical.

Elaborate effects like Bengalische Feuer / Flares are part of the event's visual language; according to reports, over 1.000 Krampusse und Perchten gather. The event is family-friendly and suitable for children from 6 to 14 years. The local volunteer fire brigade watches safety aspects, which can further reassure families.
