Soester Christmas Market

Description
The Soester Christmas Market unfolds against the impressive backdrop of the historic old town, surrounded by striking greensandstone churches and picturesque half-timbered houses. Around 100 lovingly crafted stalls offer a wide variety of gifts and handicrafts from around the world, enhanced by artisan demonstrations and culinary specialties. Each day, the Christmas angel hands out sweets to children, while the tower blower performs traditional melodies in the evening. On weekends, children have the chance to talk on the phone with Santa Claus, and starting from the second Advent weekend, the Westphalian nativity scene can be viewed in St. Patrokli Church.
The unique atmosphere of the greensandstone ensemble in the old town gives the Christmas market a special charm and has made it known beyond the regional borders. Traditionally, the Soest retailers invite shoppers to an open Sunday on the second Advent weekend.
The organizers place great emphasis on environmental awareness and sustainability. More than ten years ago, energy-saving LED lighting was introduced, and the use of reusable dishes is mandatory for the stall operators.
