The Special Sunday Series: Gemündener Maar

Description
The Gemündener Maar is the smallest of the Daun Maars, but its deep crater gives it the steepest slopes. The fully forested slopes give the Maar an air of mystery and secrecy. Because of this, it has always been somewhat off the beaten path. The Maar is well known and popular as a swimming lake with its outdoor pool.
The Maar is nestled in Lower Devonian rock layers – 420 million years of Earth's history have shaped the landscape
around the Maar – an unimaginably long time. We want to illustrate this interactively and go on a trail of discovery in the Maar crater!
