Description
The Ulmener Maar is the youngest maar in the Eifel region. Impressively preserved are the exposures of the tuff wall, the clear water of the maar lake, and the scientific insights into the volcanic history of the small town of Ulmen and its two maars, which are connected by a historic double tunnel that ensures watermill operation during dry periods. Stories and legends tell of lake monsters, knights and crusaders, coins, and witches.
