Traditionelle Krippenausstellung

The traditional nativity exhibition displays around 70 different nativity scenes and Christmas tableaux from the collections and invites families to explore Advent and customs. 🎄

• Garstener Stiftskrippe with almost life-size figures (around 1730) – children can get a close look.

• Mechanische Krippe from the workshop of Johann Georg Schwanthaler – motion and figure mechanics spark curiosity.

• Large landscape nativity scenes from the Salzkammergut with several hundred figures.

• Goldene Sams-Krippe and Bruckschlögl-Krippe show genre scenes and narrative figures.

• Regional variety: Kastenkrippen, freely movable figures, elaborately dressed figures and Loammandln.
