Welser Perchtenlauf

Welser Perchtenlauf brings traditional figures and loud staged performances into the Christmas season. In the parade over 100 participants appear – an impressive display you can watch together. 🎭

The roots lie in pre-Christian winter solstice customs: Perchten drive out evil spirits and awaken the spring-bringing forces – a folkloric element that can make children and teenagers curious.

As part of the Welser Weihnachtswelt a festive market backdrop is created, while chain rattling and loud roaring provide a dramatic, sensory experience. The program is listed as family-friendly. 🎄
