Description

The 1. Kärntner Handwerksmuseum takes you into the fascinating world of traditional crafts and professions, with a special focus on exhibits from the Upper Carinthia region. Here, you experience how traditional craftsmanship comes alive again with great attention to detail.

A special highlight is the extensive China Collection: under the theme "China at Ortenburg Castle – tracing Koxinga under the sign of the Golden Dragon", you can explore this impressive exhibition by appointment only. 🐉

Also exciting are the 'workshop presentations', which recreate historical craft techniques as realistically as possible – based on old photos, reports, and expert knowledge.

In addition, historical stories, documents, as well as old photos and graphics invite you to dive into the history of the local community. The museum actively contributes to preserving endangered crafts and sustaining cultural heritage as part of a sustainable, cross-border project.
